Spring Awakening

In 2015, Deaf West Theatre mounted a production of SPRING AWAKENING directed by Michael Arden. The cast, made up of both deaf and hearing actors, performed the show in American Sign Language and English simultaneously. The deaf and hard-of-hearing actors in certain roles were paired with a hearing actor who voiced the roles. The show transferred to Broadway in September 2015 and received universal praise. The Associated Press called it "a sheer triumph," and New York Magazine called it "brilliant and beautiful."
